Sometimes, living in an urban locale means sacrificing access to gorgeous naturescapes. If you need a break from the congestion, there are several beaches close enough for a day trip. Ramsey Creek Park, for instance, is a mere 45-minute drive from Charlotte and features a 46-acre waterfront park with picnic shelters, a playground, nature trails, and more on the Lake Norman waterfront. If you’re after a saltwater beach, you’ll have to trek a bit further to Myrtle Beach, which is about 3.5 hours southeast of the city — but it’ll be worth it to dip your toes in the Atlantic.

We’ve broken down the top cities in several states, ranked by such factors as affordability, job prospects and safety. Though there are public transit options, extended wait times and limited routes mean many residents choose to drive to get where they need to go. In fact, Charlotte is home to two of the state’s deadliest stretches of road — Interstate 85 (between Brookshire Boulevard and Sugar Creek Road) and Interstate 77 (between Remount Road and Exit 13A). Over and over again, studies have shown how important green space is for mental health and wellness — specifically in cities, where there’s more asphalt than grass. But Charlotte has no shortage of green spots to spread out with a picnic or play a game of frisbee with friends. According to a 2022 report by Stacker, Charlotte ranks number 27 among the 50 U.S. cities with the most green space per capita.

Its average cost of living is on par with many other cities in North Carolina and 2 percent lower than the overall U.S. average. But depending on where you’re moving from, you may notice a little extra savings in your account — especially when it comes to housing. Of course, the actual rent you pay depends on the building amenities, apartment size, and exact location.

Compared to the national average, out of 100, the cost of living in Charlotte is 98.9, making it only a bit less expensive overall than other areas of the country. In addition, Charlotte has several more affordable areas, allowing you to save money on rent that can free up some funds for your other basic living costs. As you plan your move, HomeLight can connect you with a top-performing, trusted real estate agent in your current city or in the Charlotte community where you’d like to live.

Looking ahead, the North Carolina job market is projected to add more than 300,000 new jobs by the end of 2028, and most of those jobs will be created in Charlotte and Raleigh. Other necessities in the 50% “must-have needs” category include groceries, utilities, car payments and healthcare. After all, your paycheck largely determines how much you can afford to spend every month. For this reason, before buying a home, consider how secure you feel in your job. Cost of living indexes typically use numerical values when measuring and comparing affordability, often working with either the national average as a benchmark or a base score of 100 for a specific city. When comparing a new location against the base city, the resulting numerical score indicates where the cost of living will likely be higher or lower between the two locations.

Personally, I’m going with Black Cherry Vanilla for the first episode as it is soft and sweet, with a slight tang, which is exactly how I think the season will go, thanks to the breakup between Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke. Well, my little party animals, all those questions will be answered in due time. A trailer for the action-packed season dropped on January 11, and it shows what happened in the months leading up to Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard's scheduled November wedding date. According to his official BravoTV.com bio, Jesse is "single and always ready to mingle."

In August 2023, Danielle was a guest at Lindsay’s bridal shower. The trip looked like great fun, but Lindsay was still mending a broken heart. The judge gave them both personal bonds and said she’s confident they will return.

Lindsay and Carl’s relationship crashed and burned faster than a pair of extensions that got caught in a candle. Last season was fun and light for the most part, but Season 8 looks like it’ll be a very bumpy ride. Per a press release, the Summer House cast is embracing "a fresh start" on Season 8.

Claremont Dementia Care Facility Kitchen Serves Delicious Meals

Searching for a Claremont Alzheimer’s care facility for a loved one fighting the disease doesn’t have to be complicated. At Summer House at Claremont Manor, we leverage the latest in technological advancements and memory care techniques to ensure our memory loss residents live their best life in spite of the challenges they face. Under the guidance of highly trained caregivers certified by the Department of Social Services for Alzheimer’s and dementia care in Claremont assisted living facilities, memory loss residents are in fantastic hands. We believe in our residents so theycan believe in themselves.

When Summer House season 7 ended, Lindsay and Carl were at odds with almost the entire cast, including Lindsay’s former bestie Danielle. However, most of the group seemed to make up while filming season 8, based on group pictures that were taken throughout the summer. The same can’t be said for Lindsay and Carl, who ultimately broke up towards the end of filming after getting engaged in August 2022. Their blowout fight occurred at the end of Season 7 as Lindsay felt her friend wasn’t being very supportive. Thankfully, as Season 8 began filming, both started sharing photos together.

This summer Kyle is refreshed and excited to send it with his friends in the Hamptons. He’s turning 40 and although age is just a number, the reality of this milestone birthday is starting to hit him. Questioning if he can support a family, Kyle wishes he were further along in his journey to financial freedom. And for the first time in their friendship, he finds himself at odds with Carl both personally and professionally. Along with innovative, individualized therapy, residents at our Claremont Alzheimer’s care facility are monitored and cared for according to their unique needs as memory loss sufferers.

When the new season began on Thursday, February 22, not all the couples in the house were off to a good start. The cast of Summer House has proven time and again that the Hamptons are not always conducive to successful relationships — and the season 8 premiere was no different. During Monday night’s (May 8) episode of the hit Bravo show, Olivera completely broke down when she learned that Carl Radke (Hubbard’s then-boyfriend) failed to include her in planning his marriage proposal to her BFF. In fact, she only found out he was officially getting on one knee shortly before the group was heading to the engagement party. Carl confirmed he broke up with Lindsay and that they canceled their planned wedding in Mexico in a letter to his family and friends that was obtained by PEOPLE. “There have been a lot of false narratives and misunderstandings that have made this all the more painful but sadly at this time we are not moving forward with the wedding,” Carl said in his letter.

Making waves this summer will be Jesse Solomon and West Wilson ( I’m getting Peter Parker/Bruce Banner Marvel vibes from this one.) The group needed a mixup, so seeing what fresh blood will do for the house will be interesting. The gang is back at their Montauk rental starting Thursday, Feb. 22, at 9 pm ET/PT on Bravo. Cameras picked back up during the summer of 2023 to catch the troubles between the golden couple. In fact, it was Carl who called production back to catch the breakup chat.

At Summer House at Claremont Manor, we encourage family to visit often and make it easy for family members to escort their loved one throughout the full community as well as taking part in arts and crafts or other group activities. Not all Claremont assisted living facilities offer dedicated memory care neighborhoods. See how the Summer House philosophy can change your life or the life of someone you love. I went back to watch some of it before summer started just to see what I was getting into and maybe to get a feel for who everyone was. This is already an established group of friends and you’re coming in new. But it’s not my first share house, so I’ve had a little bit of experience just trying to blend into friend groups before, so it worked out okay.

Welcome to Summer House at Claremont Manor, a memory care neighborhood on the grounds of Claremont Manor Retirement Community just 30 minutes from Los Angeles. Those with certain disabilities or diseases have more obstacles to overcome when searching for a quality assisted living home. If you have questions, we are here to help provide the answers.

Charlotte, Charlotte / Douglas International Airport (KCLT)

We will continue with the storm threat into our Wednesday and Thursday forecast. The severe weather activity lies much more concentrated to the west rather than within our viewing area. We still see a marginal risk for severe storms developing Wednesday and Thursday with the main threats of damaging winds and hail. Which means some of the storm cells may produce winds of 50+ mph with hail the size of quarters in diameter or larger. As we will see the potential for rain Tuesday through Thursday, there is another round of flooding concerns. Within the three day span many areas have the potential to pick up 1″ to 2″ of rainfall.

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - While there was quite a bit of weather weather from this past weekend into Monday evening, dry weather returned for Tuesday afternoon as temperatures bounced back into the 60s and a few lower 70s for the afternoon. The high pressure system that helped to clear the clouds out Tuesday morning will race eastward for Tuesday night, with a strong low pressure system arriving late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning. Most rainfall amounts will generally remain less than 0.50″, but some locally heavier amounts will be possible within the thunderstorms.

ABOUT THIS FORECAST

We keep up with the 80s for Friday with dry conditions to begin the day. Depending on the timing of a cold front, it appears a few showers/rumbles of thunder could work in late Friday evening before really ramping up over the weekend. By Friday, an isolated thunderstorm or two will be possible, late. Anticipate scattered showers and storms both Saturday and Sunday. Another front will enter Sunday and this may bring additional clouds with scattered showers and storms again. We believe Saturday will be the wettest day for this weekend, but we will continue to see how the trends go as we advance throughout this week.

Most people think of weather in terms of temperature, humidity, precipitation, cloudiness, brightness, visibility, wind, and atmospheric pressure.

charlotte weather this week

Tuesday night, with the strongest storms arriving in central Wisconsin around midnight. Severe weather is NOT anticipated, but there will be a few thunderboomers that produce hefty downpours, small hail and some wind gusts up to 40 mph as they movie through. We see dry conditions return for both Wednesday and Thursday. Afternoon highs again will read in the 70s and 80s across our hometowns.

In the meantime, mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies will be on tap for the afternoon with many of us reaching the lower 80s for our high temperatures. It will get breezy as a frontal boundary moves into the area with gusts up to 35 mph possible. Afternoon highs will read near seasonable this weekend in the upper 60s and low-mid 70s.

On average, there are 218 sunny days per year in Charlotte. Charlotte, North Carolina gets 43 inches of rain, on average, per year. SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Father Leo Riley, a local priest facing charges in Dubuque, Iowa, has bonded out of jail in Charlotte County. Part of the conditions of his release on bond is that he must return to Iowa to face charges. He also said they don’t expect parking to run out at the airport while the lots are being resurfaced, but if that happens, airport officials may ask travelers to park in the grass.

A good portion of Thursday will remain quite wet at times, with rainfall amounts ranging from 0.75″ to up to 1.25″ within some of the thunderstorms. Very windy conditions return for the end of the week and will continue throughout the weekend, with another round of showers and storms arriving late Friday night and continuing into the day Saturday. The beginning of the Wisconsin Fishing Opener looks to be a bit wet and windy, with more showers on the way for Saturday morning and afternoon. It is important to note that at first with scattered storms, we think the primary threats will be large hail, damaging winds and a few isolated tornadoes.

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Storms from overnight are pushing through northeast Kansas this morning. While a severe t-storm watch was initially issued overnight, radar trends have kept the storms below severe weather limits so it was canceled. It is still possible to get a brief severe storm today but lightning and locally heavy rain will remain the primary concerns. Dry tomorrow with the next round of rain late Friday night into Saturday morning. Showers and thunderstorms return to central Wisconsin throughout Thursday morning and afternoon, as gusty southeast winds help to usher in higher humidity for the day.

A strong cold front will enter the region by Saturday bringing additional clouds and showers/storms to the Mid Atlantic. This system will have more significant amounts of moisture that will be pulled into the region. This could lead to greater coverage (more widespread) of showers compared to earlier in the week.

In all, eight law enforcement officials were shot, including two correction officers who were killed and a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer who was critically wounded and later died. Three other Charlotte-Mecklenburg officers were also shot. Can’t rule out a few storms before midnight mainly in north-central KS but for most areas the storms will hold off until after midnight. Then the question is how long will the storms last into Saturday. Most models have Saturday afternoon dry with Sunday dry as well as most of the rain stays in southern KS on Sunday but the European model is still indicating rain on Sunday so keep checking back for updates on this part of the forecast.

As the scattered activity is likely to form a line or broken line, we will likely see the severe threats transition to more of a damaging wind potential and a spin up tornado threat. Some storm cells may produce wind gusts 70+ miles per hour with hail the size of eggs or larger. Heavy rainfall is possible with storms that move through, therefore there is the threat for flash flooding too. The threat for severe storm activity will likely develop scattered in nature in the late afternoon to early evening hours before forming a broken line of storms and pushing through the area from northwest to southeast.

portland oregon bath house

Several hours after my bath ended, my whole body was still totally relaxed and my skin felt smooth and clean. Everett House Community Healing Center is where I learned I love soaking, steaming and saunaing. It has pretty much everything other local spots have, plus the affordable half an hour option, an onsite tea room with a window facing the pool and a lovely outdoor space. To warm their deeply cold bones, Scandinavians have perfected the art of warming up using saunas, steam rooms and hot tubs. Luckily, this trick to not hating winter is catching on in Portland.

What to Expect During Your Visit

Join us at Banya 5 and immerse yourself in this unique sensory experience. The experience that stuck with me more than any other after my last trip through Portland’s spas was the $45 and 20-minute medicinal bath. A photographer was with me for most of it and still, it was such a lovely relaxing time, even if there’s almost no way I could imagine paying for it myself. Knot Springs is a swimsuit-wearing spa, which isn’t my first choice. A steam in a swimsuit is just a bit too close to what I imagine a hot dog must experience when being boiled. But, on a recent trip there with a couple friends who also have 3-year-olds, we dubbed the whole thing Mom Spring Break.

Experience the fun, stop by today

A light Argan oil massage leaves your body glowing. The therapeutic bath happens in a small, wood paneled room. Tons of concrete and basalt brick generate a rich, radiant heat offering an experience that far exceeds traditional saunas. The deeply penetrating heat relaxes muscles and regulates breathing to provide long lasting relief of stored tension. Because it was my first visit, I got to try either the hydro massager or the cold plunge and, since the massager was broken, I went with the cold plunge.

Review of Common Ground Bathhouse in Portland LGBT Travel Guide

While the towels weren't the best, and the shower only dispensed one kind of soap, the novelty of renting a hot tub for an hour is definitely worth the price of admission. The chlorinated saltwater, kept at 100 degrees, felt wonderful, but after visiting other local soaking spots, I was very aware of the lack of rules at the pool. Kids splashed and yelled and it was hard to ignore the couple next to me, cuddling and gazing deeply into each other’s eyes. The quiet here is nice, though it would probably be fun to bring a friend, too. Still, I could have spent at least another hour under the stars reading my book and relaxing.

How Much Are Home Renovation Costs? Home Remodeling and Renovation Costs Explained

However, HELOCs can be complicated, so it’s crucial to learn about their pros and cons and weigh all of your options before applying. Understanding and estimating remodel costs is crucial to prevent financial stress, set realistic, and avoid project delays or cancellations, according to Shri Ganeshram, CEO of Awning.com. But before pulling the trigger on any of these endeavors, spend some time researching the likely expenses involved and the cost of renovating a house. Here are the National Average ROI figures for the most popular remodeling projects. Here are the cost estimates for the most popular remodels that homeowners need to undertake either as an individual project, as part of a larger home remodel. Remodeling cost estimates for this guide are sourced from over 100+ medium and large remodeling and general contractors, extensive research and the Remodeling Magazine.

Home Remodeling Costs in Los Angeles

All the same elements that are in your existing house are required like plumbing, a water heater, electrical systems, appliances, air conditioning, heat, and the list goes on. The shower walls and floor also require the installation of a backer-board and a ‘hot-mop’ as waterproofing under the tile, which adds another cost in this category. Most bathroom remodels in Los Angeles cost closer to $25,000 for a smaller or secondary bathroom and $40,000 for a larger master bathroom.

Additional House Renovation Costs to Consider

Window replacement costs vary depending on the number of windows, frame material, and installation method. On average, you can expect to invest between $3,000 and $10,000 for a complete window replacement, with high-quality, energy-efficient windows typically commanding higher prices. Converting it to a living space will require insulation, wall covering, and floor treatments. However, leaving it as a garage and updating it is typically less expensive. Depending on the scope of the project, you should budget between $3,000 and $30,000 for a garage renovation. Bathroom renovations are consistently expensive due to their small but complex design.

Cost to Renovate a Bathroom

Evolving trends in home renovating significantly influence project costs as homeowners strive to align their renovations with current design preferences and technological advancements. One prevalent trend impacting expenses is the increasing demand for open and multifunctional spaces. The desire for seamless transitions between areas prompts structural changes, potentially involving additional costs for layout alterations and space optimization. Whole-home remodels in Los Angeles are the most difficult category to estimate because the total remodel cost will largely depend on what’s included. Every home is unique and requires a specific scope to accomplish the desired remodel. Therefore, the only way to get a true, realistic estimate is to invite several contractors to bid on the job (and potentially have an architect design the plans).

This is the more straightforward way to reimagine your space, and can often be done with just a licensed general contractor partner. When you’re ready to get started on your bathroom or home remodel, work with Sweeten to renovate with the best contractors in Los Angeles. You’ll also need to be aware of building codes so you don’t jeopardize your home’s resale value. You may need to hire a licensed plumber or electrician to complete certain parts of the remodel. Make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into so that you don’t need to hire a contractor to fix your DIY mistakes. You can do a decent amount of remodeling work yourself, depending on how extensive the project is.

To help you allocate funds without blowing your budget, here’s a handy guide to budgeting for renovation costs, and a breakdown for completing the most common projects. Brie Greenhalgh has been a writer and editor for BobVila.com since 2019, where she shares advice about home improvement solutions, service and renovation costs, and top home products. Additionally, Brie writes for and manages a team of writers at The Tour Guy, where she fills her travel plans with new places to explore, stay, and eat around the world. The exception is if there are significant structural challenges with the foundation, roof, or mechanical systems. Have a building inspector assess the house to understand the areas in disrepair, then talk with a few contractors to get an idea of the costs involved.

It Pays to Make These 5 Curb Appeal Updates

Careful pre-planning is key to achieving a kitchen that fulfills all your expectations, at a cost you've budgeted for. Start by consulting in great detail with your kitchen designer, architect and builder. If you do decide to replace the windows, try and match the style and materials to the character of your home. Wood windows are most common for historic homes, but are also more costly than vinyl versions.

Changes to floor plans

Although most additions are ‘attached’ to the rear of the house, there is quite a bit of variety concerning the possibilities, and therefore the remodeling costs can vary significantly. For example, some additions require quite a bit of reconfiguration within the existing home to accommodate the new space, and that will add to the total remodel cost. Consider projects like kitchen and bathroom updates, adding extra living space, or improving curb appeal, as these improvements often have a high return on investment. Remember, these are average cost ranges, and the actual costs for your specific renovation project may differ. It's crucial to obtain multiple quotes, carefully plan your renovation, and work with experienced professionals to get accurate cost estimates tailored to your needs.

Here’s what you can expect from a professional remodeling job versus one you do yourself. The tub and shower are the most common upgrades in a home remodel project. These fixtures are at the heart of your bathroom and determine room’s entire feel. Whether you decide on a simple clawfoot tub or indulge in a rainfall shower, showers and tubs can turn your bathroom into a full spa experience. Custom countertops offer the most customization at a higher price tag.

Meanwhile, a remodel involves improving the functionality of the home and requires building something new in the home. Whereas a full renovation involves changing the functionality and design of the house. However, you should always receive quotes from multiple contractors so you can compare your options. It’s also a good idea to add an extra 10% to 20% to the final estimate for additional labor or unforeseen circumstances.

You can connect both of these features to a smart-home system, which can also help you conserve water or electricity. Brass and stainless steel are popular materials, though copper can add a touch of luxury. Chrome and metallic finishes are the most common, but a matte black finish provides a bold look that can be echoed in cabinet hardware. Unless you have a pedestal or wall-mounted sink, you’ll also want a vanity that matches your cabinets in finish, edge, frame, and hardware.

Here are some ways to hone in on that magic number (and lower it a bit, in case you’re over budget). A plethora of home improvement shows have convinced many homeowners that home renovation is a reasonably straightforward operation that any reasonable person could complete. If the renovation is more cosmetic, you might be comfortable painting, installing a medicine cabinet, putting up a kitchen backsplash, or replacing a faucet. These projects don’t require permitting or structural considerations, and they can usually be done in a short time frame. Some renovation projects begin with an intention to upgrade mechanical systems for better efficiency or reliability. Updating plumbing, wiring, and HVAC systems improve home value in the long run.

For example, the cost of painting a house or getting new fixture or finishes can usually be fit into a smaller budget. Or, you could spend this same amount of money on a single room, such as a bathroom renovation or kitchen remodel. When deciding to take on a major home remodel, it’s helpful to expect the unexpected.

Replacing an exhaust fan costs around $180 to $600 depending on any added extras, such as a heat lamp or integrated light fixture. If you need to install a new exhaust fan, your cost will increase to $1,000 or more since additional work, including vents and ductwork, are needed. Bathroom windows offer improved air circulation and upgrade your bathroom’s look. Casement and awning windows work well in smaller spaces and provide excellent airflow.

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation Review & Swatches

charlotte tilbury foundation swatches

Paired with the dewy finish, I predict that the Light Wonder Foundation would register best on dry to mildly combo skins – oilier skin types will be blotting every hour, ain’t nobody got time for dat. We’ve grouped the shades according to skin tone, with swatches to help you identify your true match. Airbrush Flawless Foundation offers a selection of foundations with a spectrum of neutral undertones.

Medium (

It doesn’t settle around the crevice of my nose, woo-freaking-hoo! I would also liken it to the Estee Lauder Futurist foundation in texture and finish. Yes the Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte’s Beautiful Skin Foundation is formulated to be hydrating and contains Hyaluronic Acid as one of its key ingredients.

STILL NEED HELP FINDING THE PERFECT SHADE?

It delivers a natural looking flawlessness with minimal effort and you hardly need any product to cover the whole face. I think it gets more velvet-matte (very natural), the more you use, and I also think it’s looks better on the skin the longer you wear it. The coverage I would describe as sheer, buildable to a medium. Out of the tube, #4 looks neutral enough to match my olive skin but it oxidises to a slightly warmer hue – nothing major but something to consider. The best way to apply this foundation is with a dense but fluffy brush.

Light Wonder

charlotte tilbury foundation swatches

It is very durable and lasts the whole day, even when it’s hot. Aside from the little extra sheen, it wore beautifully. Where some foundations look downright unsightly towards the end of the day, the Light Wonder doesn’t awkwardly cake up, separate or sink into laugh lines. The finish is quite mattifying too, so for the smoothest finish, make sure you prep your skin well with a good serum, moisturiser and primer as hydration is key.

I have since received some more shades and will update the swatches soon. There is some transfer on my masks when I have worn them, but this is pretty much standard even with more long-wearing formulas. Yes I find that one layer covers most of my pigmentation very well, and then you can dab on a little extra over an areas of deeper pigmentation for a bit more coverage.

With that in mind, we’ve created this Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation shade guide, complete with swatches,  to help you find your perfect match. We’re telling you, this is true soulmate material. Get starlit skin in seconds with Hollywood Flawless Filter, the customizable complexion booster that’s a primer, highlighter, and luminous mixing medium in one. Keep the application minimal to avoid emphasising texture on the skin, only focusing on areas that you would like to cover most. When it comes to setting powder, only apply this where necessary and rely on setting spray instead to keep the foundation in place without looking or feeling dry. It comes in only 10 shades, but Charlotte is expanding her colour range in other products so hopefully she’ll expand this too, I have the shade Fair 3 and it’s a perfect match for me.

I have combination skin and I love it but if you are oily it might be too much. It does have more coverage than say, a tinted moisturiser. The after photo illustrates the foundation alone, no powder/primer/concealer. Airbrush Flawless Foundation offers a selection of foundations with yellow, golden and olive undertones. I can use shade 3 or 4 in Light Wonder foundation. I have been using the shade 4 Warm in Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte’s Beautiful Skin Foundation with a little bit of the light cool in the places I tend to conceal.

This does not in any way affect the price you pay for the item, and absolutely does not influence my choice of items to show you. This foundation lasts for 5 hours without blotting, which is good for me. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COOL UNDERTONES, WARM UNDERTONES & NEUTRAL UNDERTONES

I really like this foundation, I love it for day to day life. It’s easy to wear and it doesn’t look like you are wearing anything. I also like the packaging as it makes it easy to carry around. The shade is a perfect match for me and it’s all I’ve been wearing since I got it. Foundation is one of the most important makeup products in your beauty routine.

I actually don’t love a gloss all over, I find it catches the light on the t-zone to make it look more textured than it actually is. I much prefer the foundation once the t-zone has been powdered. It is such a light formula, and you can stretch the smallest dot of product over your whole face. You can layer for more coverage, but it literally covers everything and still looks like skin. I usually like a glowy foundation but this is so good. So I thought I would cut straight to the chase with the shade chat.

Charlotte Tilbury will be launching the Expert Foundation Founder when this product launches. But basically, I think you can take the same shade you use in Light Wonder. The brand Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Foundation is all about hydrated, plumper, smoother and brighter skin. Duplicate a high-end product or never buy the same shade twice. The links in the post are affiliates, which means I get a small percentage from the sales if you use my link.

Excitingly, there are 44 shades of this new foundation across cool, neutral and warm undertones, so there is pretty much should be something for everyone. This is an example of how the foundation looks once the t-zone has been set, I used the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Powder #2 (which only mutes the gloss, as opposed to mattifying the skin entirely). Keep application really minimal if possible to avoid emphasising texture on the skin, and only set with powder where necessary. Instead, a setting spray will help to keep the foundation in place without looking or feeling dry on the skin. Airbrush Flawless Foundation offers a selection of foundations with pink and red undertones. The formula contains ingredients designed to tackle a range of age-related concerns.

Charlotte’s Beautiful Skin gives a solid medium coverage that is easy to build up if you are looking for something a bit more on the full side. Charlotte Tilbury Medium (4) is a very warm-toned, light gold with a luminous finish. It is a permanent primer that retails for $44.00 and contains 1 oz.

How Much Does a Home Renovation Cost in 2024?

A wheelchair-accessible bathroom or one that accommodates people with limited mobility can be extremely valuable to elderly homeowners or those taking in older relatives. These accommodations include adding a doorway at least 36 inches wide, a roll-in shower with no lip, a wall-mounted sink or toilet, and grab bars. Walk-in tubs are also popular and can come with several extra features such as water or jets, heated seats, or chromotherapy lights. Depending on the extent of the upgrade, you could add between $100 to $18,000 to your remodeling costs. Sweeten general contractors have worked on projects that range from about $50,000 to over $200,000, depending on whether they are conversions or ground-up constructions.

How can I budget for a home renovation project?

Remember, it’s the appliances and cabinets in those rooms that eat up the biggest chunk of money. Here’s what homeowners can expect to pay in home renovation costs for an average-sized house (about 2,500 square feet). Home remodeling costs depend on the square footage, quality of materials, and what areas are renovated. Most remodeling projects add resale value and provide a 50% to 85% return on investment. The cost of labor for a bathroom remodel goes towards the renovation crew, behind-the-scenes administrative employees, and subcontractors. Generally, the cost of labor is dependent on a project’s complexity, size, and location.

Average Cost to Renovate a House by Location

Overall, you can expect to recoup 72% of your investment when you sell your home. If you’re undertaking a home renovation, you’ll probably need at least one building permit. All structural changes and additions require a permit, as do most plumbing and electrical work. Check with your city or county’s building department for more specific information. The best way to estimate your renovation costs is to talk to a local contractor. You might contact a few to get some different estimates to work with.

Enhanced Safety and Improved Accessibility

how much does it cost to renovate a house

Outdoor projects are more likely to require a special contractor, which means more money. Here are some of the exterior and interior renovation projects with higher costs to consider. Converting an attic might involve similar costs to a basement renovation but with additional concerns about access, natural light, and the infrastructure needed for a living space. Bedroom renovations often involve cosmetic upgrades such as fresh paint, new flooring, or updated lighting. Compared to other rooms, the average cost is mid-range unless you plan on getting new furniture, which will add to the reno's cost.

how much does it cost to renovate a house

Projects such as tiling, electrical, and plumbing might require a skilled contractor, adding to the total cost. If you consider expanding or reconfiguring the space, the project might set you back between $5,000 and $25,000+. Costs vary significantly based on design, appliances, flooring, and countertop materials. A kitchen renovation can cost anywhere between $10,000 and more than $50,000. The main factor in estimating the cost of your renovation will be the size of your home.

Plumbing Fixtures

If the home has asbestos inside, it costs $1,200 to $2,800 extra for safe gutting and removal. The average cost to remodel a whole 1,200 square foot house is $18,000 to $72,000, while remodeling a 2,000 square foot home ranges between $28,000 and $115,000. Major brand names are more expensive than those of competitors, and certain types of paint that provide additional benefits—against mold and mildew, for example—might cost more. Sweeten handpicks the best general contractors to match each project’s location, budget, scope, and style.

Also, if your electrical panel is at capacity, you may need to upgrade it to accommodate new electrical circuits in your additional space. So, if you’re building 300sf, you’re probably budgeting at least $120,000, but if you want to build 1,000sf you can budget $300,000 or less. Just like a kitchen, the most efficient and cost-effective option is to remodel the bathroom and replace the major items in the same location – toilet, vanity, shower, and tub.

How Much Does It Cost To Remodel A House In 2023?

But, we cannot forget that a large portion of the cost of any remodeling project is the materials. Specifically, in this case, these are the rough materials the contractor needs to complete the job. These are simple things like lumber, plywood, drywall, paint, nails, etc. These all seem like commodities and you would expect them to be cheap. But during this inflationary environment, the prices of these materials have increased substantially. The contractor has no choice but to pass these increases along to the consumer in their bid.

DIY Bathroom Remodel

A typical plumbing job costs $300, electrical work costs $350, and installing a new HVAC system runs between $500 and $7,200. You might find the planning process much easier for more complex renovation projects if you hire an architect early on. Your ideas can come to life with the help of an architect who can recommend current trends, upgrades, structural needs, and more. An architect is also helpful as a cost estimator who can determine a rough estimate on expected costs. It’s no secret that older homes tend to hide structural or mechanical issues that must be addressed when they’re discovered. An old house might have great bones, but updating electrical wiring to current safety standards is a good (and sometimes necessary) idea that could save you money in the long run.

Even if you think your roof is in tip-top shape, weather damage and natural disasters are the No.1 reason homeowners replace their roof, according to our March 2024 USA TODAY Homefront survey. Thirty five percent of our survey participants cited this as the primary cause for roof replacement, followed by having an old roof that looks worn (31%). Other reasons for replacing a roof include requirements by a homeowners association and homeowners insurance, each at 10%. According to Sweeten contractors in L.A., this number varies between an estimated $750 to $2,500 depending on the specific scope of work for each project.

Upfront costs of buying a house are one thing to consider, but many home buyers also factor in long-term energy costs. Even if you don’t plan to sell a house soon, consider renovating some mechanical systems to improve the efficiency of your house and lower bills. New double-pane windows, added insulation, or an updated HVAC system improve efficiency. Depending on the scope of the project, it may be necessary to prepare the site for construction whether it be removing landscaping or clearing space to access the house. If significant work is required to prepare the site, expect to pay between $1,200 and $4,000.

Deciding to paint your home is a personal choice that is affected by your willingness and ability to do the job. These estimates offer a range of $3,500 to $14,000 to paint the exterior of a 2,000-square-foot home. You will likely pay more if you have a large home or a home with multiple stories. A professional then removes any tape and plastic before doing touch-ups.

A home estimate can help identify areas that would provide the best ROI. In this case, it’s best to choose styles, colors, and trends that appeal to the current market in your region. Sometimes a house has sustained some damage that doesn’t affect efficiency or function, but it’s still important to repair any damage to keep property value high.

Labor costs typically account for a significant portion of renovation expenses. Hiring reputable contractors and workers ensures a quality job, but it often comes with a premium price tag. Depending on the project's complexity and local labor rates, expect to spend between 40% and 60% of your total budget on labor. Making changes to your home's floor plan can significantly impact renovation costs.

“Renovation” and “remodel” are two terms that are sometimes used interchangeably when discussing various kinds of home projects. While they are similar in nature, remodels tend to be larger-scale home improvements while renovations are usually more repair- and update-focused. On average, Americans spend $22,000 on a single home renovation project. Depending on the type of house, roomand project, the average recommended spending for remodeling projects will vary greatly. It’s best to calculate renovation costs based on the rooms you want to remodel rather than square footage.

Hiring a reputable contractor is the cornerstone of a successful renovation. Make sure to check reviews, ask for references, and get everything in writing. Having a contingency fund for unexpected expenses can be a lifesaver. Trust me, the last thing you want is to halt your project because your budget was as tight as skinny jeans after Thanksgiving.

Best Weekend Cruises from Florida

royal caribbean weekend cruise

Allure of the Seas makes a great weekend cruise option for those who love having a nearly endless amount of activities to choose from onboard, from zip lining to AquaTheater shows. While it’s possible to disembark the ship in Nassau and simply walk around, we highly recommend planning what you would like to do in Nassau in advance to ensure you don’t miss out on the island’s best offerings and beaches. Many of the best Memorial Day cruise destinations are interchangeable with places you might go over the Labor Day holiday. Memorial Day activities for the whole family, such as letting loose on CocoCay private in the Bahamas, are just as enticing in late May as they are in early September.

Weekend Cruises Out Of Florida For Couples

Calling at Nassau allows you to explore the vibrant capital of the Bahamas, while wilder adventures await in Bimini, Paradise Island and beyond. Further sweetening the deal is Perfect Day at CocoCay, where the kids can brave the largest wave pool in the Caribbean while you belly up to the swim-up bar. If you've read my previous reporting on cruises, you may remember that my favorite place to hang out on any cruise ship is poolside. So when I found out that Utopia of the Seas℠ offers one of the boldest pool scenes in the fleet, it quickly climbed the ranks on my "top ships" list. There are a whopping five pools on board — two resort-style and one with a sloping beach entry on the top deck. This is where families will find most of the action, including reggae bands and impromptu pool parties that guests of all ages will love.

In general, a weekend cruise in the cheapest stateroom category (interior) will cost between $700 and $1000 total for 2 adults.

The casual restaurant has more than 1,000 seats, so you never need to worry about snagging a table for you and your crew. From its Brisbane base, Voyager of the Seas can easily escape to the tropics on four and six-night cruises visiting the Whitsundays and Yorkey’s Knob. Selected sailings add a visit to tiny Willis Island for a scenic circumnavigation.

Rent a scooter and zip to downtown San Miguel, where you'll find a laid-back town square filled with local vendors, couples on dates and kids playing. It's the perfect spot to grab an outdoor cafe table and peacefully read a book or people-watch while sampling concha bread or fruits on a stick. In Nassau, Bahamas, serene seclusion is easy to reach on a relaxing weekend getaway.

If you prefer a concert, head to Music Hall, where incredible cover bands command the stage, giving you plenty of inspiration to bust a move. This cozy, adults-only comedy club showcases a rotating lineup of fabulous stand-up comedians, from slapstick pros to unrivaled pun-masters. You won't want to miss out on Utopia's Spotlight℠ Karaoke — a lively spot that lets you belt out your favorite hits in front of a full house, or book a private room for a more intimate concert with friends or family. Two of my other favorite free restaurants are Sorrento's Pizza, an open-late spot that serves up perfection by the slice, and Dog House, known for its yummy artisanal brats piled with all your favorite toppings. If you're a brunch lover like me, you'll find plenty to rave about at The Mason Jar, a Southern-inspired specialty restaurant that highlights hearty eats from the bayou and the Low Country.

Or head further north to Bermuda, whose azure waters and pink beaches are warmed year-round by the jet stream. Enjoy your family summer vacation on a cruise to Perfect Day CocoCay and discover the private islands beautiful beaches, kid-friendly attractions, great restaurants and record-breaking water rides and activities for all ages. Knowing a cruise ship offers dedicated kids' clubs or childcare programs can be a huge deal for traveling families — including mine, as I remember feeling bored as a kid on vacation with my parents and their grown-up friends.

While some dining venues, bars, and water slides may differ, passengers should expect a relatively similar experience no matter which Voyager or Freedom Class ship they choose. There's only one thing better than a trip to the Sunshine State — and that's the wide variety of weekend cruises from Florida that allow you to mix a sailing with a little time in Florida itself. Best of all, cruising is a relatively all-inclusive option no matter which sailing you choose, with transportation to various ports, food, entertainment and your place to stay all part of the fare. One important distinction to note before booking a weekend cruise on Allure of the Seas is that she has a few differences compared to other Oasis Class cruise ships.
